Mr. Li Xiaobo, a real estate executive, was arrested for distributing flyers about Falun Gong. His attorney recently met with him and found out that he had lost sight in his left eye. The authorities have denied his request for medical parole, and his family members are very concerned about him.

Mr. Li and his son, Mr. Li Zhe, were arrested by officers from the Hong’an Police Station on April 12th, 2014. Mr. Li Zhe, who is a Canadian citizen, was repatriated soon after.

Mr. Li Zhe hired an attorney in China as soon as he returned to Canada to try to secure his father’s release. The attorney found out that Mr. Li Xiaobo had been interrogated seven times in less than two months.

The attorney finally met with Mr. Li Xiaobo after experiencing many difficulties with the authorities. Mr. Li Xiaobo told him that he had lost sight in his left eye and that a doctor said that he was completely blind in that eye.

An Application for Bail was submitted by the attorney, citing the Legal Opinion Book that points out that it is legal to practice Falun Gong and disseminate Falun Gong materials. He has not received any response at the time of this writing.
