The Yinzhou District Court of Tieling, Liaoning Province tried three Falun Dafa practitioners on March 5, 2003. Practitioners Zhang Bo and Wang Jie were both sentenced to seven years in prison. Another practitioner, Cai Shaojie, was sentenced to four years in prison. Li Weiji, a righteous man who upheld justice for Falun Gong, was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Mr Zhang Bo, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Liaoning Province, started practising Falun Dafa in June of 1995. He went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on September 7, 1999, and was detained for thirty days. In November 2001, he was detained again at the Kaiyuan Detention Centre, and was eventually released after holding a ten-day hunger strike. Zhang was sentenced to three years of forced labour on February 4, 2002, but was released after holding a hunger strike for thirty-three days. On April 24th of the same year, he was again sentenced to two years of forced labour, but was released again after forty days on a hunger strike. When Zhang was forcibly sent for brainwashing, he was badly beaten and his shoulder and abdomen were seriously hurt. He had heart trouble and passed out, but was still force-fed for six days after the beatings. In October of 2002, because he helped Li Weiji to collect evidence of the persecution, he was arrested and sentenced to seven years in prison.

Ms Wang Jie is a forty-year-old government employee under the Chinese communist regime, who obtained Falun Dafa in November of 1997. On July 10, 2002, she was arrested and sent to the Longshan Forced Labour Camp for appealing in Beijing. The policemen tried to force her to write a "Dissociation Statement" [A statement of dissociation from Falun Gong, and a promise not go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong] by beating her with an electric baton. Another young girl in the camp, fifteen-year-old Han Tianzi, was beaten with an electric baton until she hurt all over her body. She had a high fever and even started to twitch. The female practitioners began a hunger strike to protest the vicious torture. Wang was ineptly force-fed as a form of punishment many times, causing her to vomit blood. She was sent to the Ziqiang School, which is run by the Police Department, and later to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. Upon entering the camp, the camp director rejected her because she was on the verge of death. She was then sent to the Fourth Division of the Police Department. They planned to sentence her to two years of forced labour for distributing a large number of flyers, and for refusing to reveal the source of the flyers. She started a hunger strike right away, and was sent to the Dabei Jail Hospital in Shengyang for half of a month. There she went on a hunger strike together with Yi Liping, Zou Guirong (who eventually died from the torture), and Zhou Yanbo. It wasn't until she was dying that her family was informed, and asked to send her to a regular hospital. On July 28, 2001, Wang was arrested at a central distribution point for Dafa truth-clarification materials. She was released after five days on a hunger strike. Two days after her release, three policemen went to her home to arrest her, but couldn't find her. She was forced to leave home to avoid further persecution and torture. She was a witness to the death of her cellmates Sun Hongyan, a practitioner from Liaozhong, and Zou Guirong, both of whom were tortured to death. In October 2002, she was arrested again and unjustly sentenced to seven years in prison for helping Li Weiji collect evidence of the persecution.

Mr Cai Shaojie, born in 1964, was detained for fifteen days for appealing twice in Beijing for the right to practice Falun Gong. His kind company helped release him from the detention centre. In late November of 2001 he was detained again. The Dafa material distribution site was searched and the materials were confiscated. Cai openly walked out from the detention centre with a righteous mind. He remained homeless to avoid being captured and tortured, but was arrested in October 2002 for helping Li Weiji collect evidence of the persecution. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

Li Weiji, a righteous man who tried to uphold justice for Falun Gong practitioners, even though he does not practise Falun Gong himself, was sentenced to eight years in prison for helping the practitioners in the Tieling Area with paperwork so that they could go abroad, and for collecting evidence of the persecution. The torturers broke both of his arms and caused lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion. Now he can hardly walk. He will be sent to the Panjin Jail.
