Brief introduction to the painting

Title: Returning Home Together after Fulfilling the Wish: A New Being in Heaven and Earth
Artist: ShuiZhi (Tokyo, Japan)
Size: 200cm x 90cm

On November 7th 2000, in the TuanHe labour camp, a tragedy that caused much sadness and indignation took place: Wang Lixuan, a very kind young mother and her 8-month-old son Hao Meng were both found dead in jail. With extreme sadness, Wang Lixuan’s parents witnessed the heart-breaking signs of abuse on their daughter and grandson’s bodies: Wang Lixuan’s neck and collar bones were broken, her skull was crushed, and a needle was left in her waist. There were two deep scars on her baby’s ankles and two bruise spots on his head, and his nose was full of blood. All these indications of torture have been confirmed by a forensic physician, who indicated that it was very likely that the baby had been shackled at the ankles and hung upside down.

Wang Lixuan and her son were the 93rd confirmed cases of Falun Dafa practitioners being tortured to death from Jiang’s evil persecution of Falun Gong. In October 2000, Wang Lixuan and her 7-month-old son, who was still breast feeding at that time, were taken into custody and detained in the TuanHe labour camp because she tried to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa and appealed to the government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. In the labour camp the authorities tortured them in many different ways in an attempt to force her to give up Falun Gong.

Amidst all of the information being passed around about Wang Lixuan, there was one picture of her and her son. From this picture, we could see the mother’s kindness and the baby’s serenity. Perhaps it is impossible to imagine how cruelly they were killed. But the compassion, encouragement, conscience, forbearance, and courage that they showed to the world in order to uphold truth and justice could move people with consciences to tears. This inspired me to make this painting. Two thousand years ago, people recorded the solemnity of Jesus’ bearing hardship for sentient beings. Today, I hope that this painting will make people revere the compassion and magnificence of those who give up their lives to uphold “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”

This painting is around 2 metres high and 90 centimetres wide. It is almost the same size as the prototype of the fresco in the Beijing Fahai temple. I do not think that it is possible to create gods’ images through a human being’s imagination. So I referenced the related documents handed down from history. I painted this picture with a reverent heart. I hope that this picture can make those people who have been far away from believing in gods feel the solemnity and the magnificence of gods again.
