Further Information on Deceased Heilongjiang Female Falun Dafa Practitioner "D3"

By a practitioner from Heilongjiang Province, China

I felt immense heartache after reading the article entitled "D3 -- A Nameless Falun Dafa Practitioner Who Had Been Persecuted to Death." According to the article, in May of 2000, the author was detained in Beijing's Chongwen District Detention Centre. D3, a female Falun Dafa practitioner from Heilongjiang Province, was detained in the same jail cell with the author. D3 was tortured to death. The following is what I know about D3.

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Heilongjiang Province. On July 21st 2000, while I was appealing for Falun Dafa in Tiananmen Square, four or five police officers beat me and kidnapped me, taking me to the Tiananmen Square Police Department. I was sent to Tiantan Police Station for interrogation that night. Because I refused to tell them my name, I was sent to Chongwen District Detention Centre the next afternoon. My assigned destination in the detention centre was "E3". Three days later, I was transferred from West group one to West group three. (The detention centre has two wings, the East wing and the West wing. There are five groups in each wing, and there are about ten jail cells in each group. New prisoners who are still being interrogated are usually sent to group one. People who have gone through interrogation and are being formally detained are transferred to group two or group three, etc.) I was detained in jail cell three of West group three, and the female jail cell of East group three was across the corridor from my cell. D3 was detained in that female jail cell. Since only the corridor separated the two groups, news from the female cell often spread to the male cell. Inmates who had stayed in West group three for a while all knew that D3 was tortured to death. In my jail cell, the two senior inmates and some other inmates knew about D3. They said two female Falun Dafa practitioners were tortured to death in May.

The situation in the detention centre was horrible. My jail cell was about ten square-meters [approximately 100 square-feet] in size. There were more than 20 people locked up in the cell at night. During bedtime, the three or four senior inmates would open up their beddings and sleep on their backs. They took up half to 2/3 of the space while remaining inmates had to sleep on their sides. We usually slept with our heads facing each other's feet. Food provided by the detention centre was very bad, and we were also forced to do manufacturing work. The "doctor" in the detention centre was a criminal who had been sentenced to four or five years of prison time. When I was force-fed, I was pinned to the ground by four or five inmates. Such pressure on top of me made me feel like my internal organs were going to rupture. After the force-feeding, my whole body was usually covered with blood. From my own experience, I could imagine what kind of torment D3 must have endured.

Not all people in the detention centre were evil. Prior to my detention there, D3 and other practitioners had validated Falun Dafa with their righteous behaviour, and many officers and inmates already understood the truth about Falun Dafa. During their routine instruction speech to senior inmates, many kind-hearted prison officers repeatedly emphasised, "Falun Dafa practitioners are good people, no one is allowed to beat them, swear at them, or cause them any trouble." When I was transferred to the West group three, I hid Teacher's new article "Towards Consummation", but an inmate found it. One of the senior inmates said, "Falun Dafa practitioners are good people. Give it back to him." That senior inmate also told me that there was a half-hour of free time at night when prison officers were doing their routine jail cell check. He said I could use that time to practise Falun Gong. Besides telling me times when I could safely study and practise Falun Gong during this break, he also passed on to me a lot of knowledge about the jail. When I was being interrogated by a police officer, I let him read the article "Towards Consummation." The officer was deeply touched. During subsequent interrogations, he only asked some basic questions concerning the practise. I answered those questions for him. Inmates in my jail cell also asked me to lend them the article to read. Some of them asked me to teach them the exercises, and some asked me to explain the situation of Falun Dafa to them. The inmates in the cell were very friendly to Falun Dafa practitioners, and they respected Falun Dafa very much.
