On February 3rd 2003, between 200 and 300 Chinese people celebrated Chinese New Year at a party in Oslo. The party was organised by a Chinese association and a Chinese Student association, and the Chinese embassy staff were also present. Falun Gong practitioners from Oslo distributed Falun Gong information to people attending. They knew that the web of lies created through Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin’s control of all media outlets in China has deceived many of these Chinese people. The practitioners hoped to give these people a chance to learn the truth and see that tens of millions of innocent Chinese people are being unjustly persecuted, slandered and suppressed. Nearly everybody took the materials, which included information about the Genocide lawsuit filed against Jiang in America, and also thanked us. Some of the Chinese even recognised us from last year and greeted us.

There was one man who tried to stop us from distributing the information; he tried to drive a practitioner away by using his body to come between her and other people, and even shouting swear words. A practitioner told him that this is Norway, which is a free country. Without success, he gave up but then talked loudly to a large group of Chinese people who quietly stood by and did not say anything to him. It seemed that these people already knew the truth about the persecution in China and they were embarrassed by his behaviour. Later the man left, as did the other Chinese people. But after a while, when the man was out of sight, one after another the Chinese people came back to get some materials!

Later on that evening, the man returned with his son. The street was iced up and he could not move his car away from where he had parked. Practitioners helped to push his car. He offered his thanks and left, while his son waved goodbye to us.

At the end of the party, this man returned again. This time he was a little more friendly, but still tried to drive practitioners away. One practitioner looked at him and asked kindly, "Do you want a VCD?" The man did not answer but looked shocked. He stopped disturbing us and seemed much more friendly and relaxed.
