Daqing City Detention Centre has always been a notorious place for persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners. The monitors are everywhere to keep track of practitioners' every move at all times. Practitioners who were illegally detained here were not allowed to practise the exercises or study the principles of Falun Gong. If one practised the exercises, she was pulled out, handcuffed and shackled and then subjected to all kinds of physical torture. At the same time, the police would also punish the criminals in order to incite their hatred against practitioners; this in turn made the criminals torture Falun Dafa practitioners. However, the practitioners one after another, demonstrating their pure compassion and great tolerance that they had cultivated from Falun Dafa, have used their lives to uphold the right to practise Falun Dafa, to wake up those criminals' conscience and to improve the environment in the prison.
On May 30, 2002, Falun Dafa practitioner Auntie Wang (in her sixties,) [Note: In Chinese culture, calling a woman of one's acquaintance "Auntie" is a term of respect for an older person and does not connote kinship] was kidnapped and brought to the detention centre. She went on a hunger strike to protest against the persecution. Meanwhile, she kept practising the exercises regularly every day, and sent forth righteous thoughts [using upright thoughts to purify oneself and the surrounding environment] every hour. The evil police were afraid, so they used all kinds of methods to stop her from practising the exercises. However, after she crossed her legs in the lotus position [ Note: where both legs are crossed on top of each other. A traditional meditation position], none of the strong criminals could take them down even though they tried very hard and they then finally became tired. Auntie Wang always crossed her legs and did the hand gestures when she sent forth righteous thoughts. The criminals could not push her legs down. The police instigated the criminals to cover her up with a blanket to make her breathing difficult they also told them to kick and beat her. There was one prisoner who hit Auntie Wang for eighteen days. During that period, she suffered from wounds on her body on every day. Sometimes, in order to send forth righteous thoughts or practise the sitting meditation, she had to struggle with the criminals for up to four to five hours.
On September 6, 2002, Falun Dafa practitioner Auntie Liu (in her fifties) was kidnapped and brought into the detention centre from her home. She was put in the same cell with Auntie Wang. At that time, Auntie Wang was emaciated because of her long-term hunger strike, but she was still glowing with health and in a very good state. Her condition made the prisoners and the evil police in the cells recognise the supernormal nature of Falun Dafa.
Every day, as soon as the two of them practised the exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts together, the criminals in the cell would jump around like crazy when they saw it. Some would beat them, some pinched them, and some pulled at their legs. When they saw that the hard methods of torture didn't work, they tried using soft tactics. Auntie Liu and Auntie Wang were not moved at all. In the end, the police told the prisoners, "None of you could change them, so from now on, you should not beat them any more." As time passed by, the prisoners in the cell were all touched by their great compassion and tolerance and never again restrained them from practising the exercises anymore. Just like this, Aunties Liu and Wang practised the exercises every day and sent forth righteous thoughts every hour with dignity.
Because they had always been on hunger strike to protest the persecution, the police and criminals force-fed them but they resisted the evil people. The police asked the criminals to carry them over every day, and let the criminals pin down their arms and legs and pull their hair to enable them to forcibly insert tubes into their noses. Sometimes the ladies almost suffocated. During the force-feeding, as long as they could speak, they would shout, "Falun Dafa is Good!" Once the evil police and the criminals heard "Falun Dafa is Good," they became terrified, and stopped their evil deeds right away. Sometimes when the ladies saw other practitioners being carried out for force-feeding, they would also shout, "Falun Dafa is Good!" When this happened, the police would run to the office and tell the criminals to cover their mouths up.
Currently, Auntie Wang has been secretly and illegally sentenced to five years imprisonment and sent to Harbin City female prison. Auntie Liu was sent to Harbin City drug rehabilitation centre for three years of illegal forced labour. Because they discovered problems with Auntie Liu's health during the physical examination, she has been released on bail for medical treatment.
