Police Arrest Supermarket Owners Mr. Qi Wanchuan and His Wife, Ms. Liu Bing'e, and Steal Their Money
Mr. Qi Wanchuan and Ms. Liu Bing'e, husband and wife, are practitioners in Kongjiazhuang, Wanquan County, Hebei Province. They were arrested at their supermarket by officers led by chief Li Fenglou from the Wanquan Police Department. Valuables from their home and the cash in the register, totalling more than 10,000 yuan1, were stolen. The family was traumatized by the incident. Mr. Qi and Ms. Liu are well-known, good people. They bought a three-story building where they operated a supermarket on the first floor and lived on the upper two floors. They strictly followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance from the time they opened the supermarket, and their business has been very good. People liked to shop at their store because they felt that the couple was very sincere and nice. On February 2nd, 2009, several officers from the Wanquan Police Department went to their store, arrested them, and then ransacked their home. They took away the computer, printer, 10,000 yuan in cash and the deposit certificates in the register, a gold chain, gold rings, gold earrings, and gold bracelets. Their home was left in a big mess, and their family members were all distressed. Mr. Qi's parents, who were both over 70, were extremely upset. His mother became so sick that she is now bedridden. His father was fighting all the stress and was also taking care of the supermarket, but was often so depressed that he had to close the store. Their son, who was attending high school is also depressed and cannot study. Mr. Qi is currently detained in Wanquan County Jail. Ms. Liu is detained in Shisanli Jail in Zhangjiakou City. Ms. Liu is on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and she is very weak. She had back problems before she began to practise Falun Gong and was so sick that she had to lay in bed all the time. After she began practising she became very healthy. Now her family is very concerned about her health. We appeal to all people to extend their support and stop this persecution against innocent people.
