Final Divine Performing Arts Performance in the Hague Closes to Standing Ovation
On February 20th, 2008, the audience gave a resounding to goodbyes from the hosts of the Divine Performing Arts final performance at the World Forum Theatre in the Hague. "See you next year," they exclaimed. Thunderous applause demanded a second curtain call, greeted by a standing ovation.
Dr. Jansen, a retired United Nations worker, said that the whole performance was fantastic, including dancing, backdrops, costumes, and stories. His friend commented that the show was wonderful. Dr. Jansen said, "The show presented the beauty of Chinese culture. ... The whole performance was balanced and coordinated. The beautiful female dancers, postures, costumes, and dancing are all so graceful."
Mr. Rounald Jongejan said after watching the show, "I felt that the whole program was wonderful, demonstrating grace and beauty. I've been to China and seen performances there, but this demonstrated far more grace." His friend Mr. Ruud Walters said, "I think that the Mongolian dancing is beautiful with many amazing things. The last performance was very graceful and powerful. In fact, the whole show is powerful. ... It is great."
Dutch comedian Erik van Muiswinkel initiated a campaign of "no travel to China" to protest human rights persecution and attracted media attention as a result. In the talk show by Pauw & Witteman on Holland National TV channel 3 on February 19, he mentioned that the Chinese Communist Party attempted to interfere with the show presented by the Divine Performing Arts. After watching the show, Mr. Muiswinkel commended the performance. After the show, some people still lingered in the theatre hall and talked about the show, "Such a wonderful performance", "the colours were beautiful", "amazing costumes", and more.
