Ms. Wan Xiuying Currently Detained at Hailar Detention Centre in Inner Mongolia
Ms. Wan Xiuying is a Dafa practitioner from Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia. On December 8th, 2006, she went missing on the train from Tongliao to Hailar, and family members were very anxious and looked for her everywhere. On December 14th, Shao Jun, who works at the National Security Division of the Kerqin Police Station in Tongliao City, said that Ms. Wan was detained in the Hailar City Railway Police Station. Ms. Wan was later detained in Hailar Detention Centre. Her current situation is unclear. It was said that the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) followers found Dafa books in Ms. Wan’s handbag, along with information materials about Dafa and some CDs. The relatives asked Shao Jun to take Ms. Wan back to Tongliao City but he refused. Ms. Wan is 59 years old and has benefited greatly, both mentally and physically, since she started practising in 1998. Because of her determination to practise Falun Gong, she has been constantly subjected to persecution since July 20th, 1999. During the past several years, Ms. Wan has been: In addition: In addition, the police and local officials often go to the workplaces of her relatives to harass and interrogate them, including her son, daughter-in-law, and the daughter-in-law’s father. Ms. Wan’s daughter Wang Ying is a teacher in Tongliao Experimental Elementary School, and she was detained several times and sent to labour camp for three years for publicising "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and "Falun Dafa is good." At the Hexi Prison in Tongliao City and the Tumuji Labour Camp, Ms. Wang Ying was brutally persecuted. Her limbs were shackled, she was handcuffed and hung up in the death bed, beaten with a club, electrically shocked with two high-voltage batons, and beaten by several people in turns. In the end, Ms. Wang Ying was crippled from the torture. A cranial CT and examination revealed lesions, myocarditis, hearing loss, and other problems. Finally, Ms. Wang’s daughter Wang Ying was in a life-threatening situation, and was sent home from Tumuji Labour Camp in January 2002. At 3:00 a.m. on April 29th, 2004, Ms. Wan was arrested when she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution. Ms. Wan went on a hunger strike for twelve days to protest the unreasonable persecution. It was not until Ms. Wan was in a life-threatening situation did the police contact her son Wang Zhe to take her home. Seeing his mother persecuted so severely, Wang Zhe sternly told the police, "You people also have parents. You only send her back after she was tortured to this extent. Do you still have a conscience?" He carried Ms. Wan upstairs and then went downstairs to reason with them. By then, the police had already left. On December 8th, 2006, Ms. Wan was missing on the train between Tongliao Station and Hailar Station. Her family members looked for her everywhere. On December 14th, according to policeman Shao Jun, Ms. Wan was detained at Hailar Railway Station. She was later transferred to Hailar Detention Centre.
