Finland: Candlelight Vigil to Mourn Practitioners Persecuted to Death and Call for an End to the Persecution
In the evening of July 20th, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners in front of the Houses of Parliament in Helsinki held a candlelight vigil to mourn those practitioners persecuted to death, to protest against the Chinese Communist Regime’s seven-year persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, and to appeal to the Finnish government and citizens to help bring the atrocities of the Chinese Communist Party to an end. In March 2006, three witnesses respectively disclosed the news that organs were harvested from living Falun Gong practitioners in China's labour camps. On July 6th, two Canadian independent investigators, the former Canadian Secretary of State (in charge of the Asia-Pacific region) and former senior member of Parliament David Kilgour with the respected human rights lawyer David Matas, announced the result of an investigation to prove the existence of this evil, indicating that tens of thousand practitioners suffered “a shocking, different form of evil”
At night, banners and practitioners holding candles in front of Houses of Parliament attracted passers-by. Many people took leaflets to read while walking; some people inquired of practitioners more about Falun Gong; others actively signed their names; the others helped to distributes materials. Passing cars sounded their horns in support.
