Denmark: Warm Response for Falun Gong from Parents, Teachers and Children
By a Danish practitioner In the second half of June, 2006, serene traditional-style Chinese music could be heard playing in the gymnasium of Bjerregrev School in the Danish town of Viborg. Teachers and parents watched with amazement as their usually noisy children sat quietly and did the fifth exercise of Falun Gong, a sitting meditation.
This was part of the school curriculum teaching about Chinese culture. The teachers invited Falun Gong practitioners to introduce the practice to the children. Practitioners taught the exercises, described the popularity of the practice around the world and explained the principles of Falun Gong, Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance to the children and told them about the brutal persecution happening in China. In the following two weeks, the teachers lead the school children to do meditation for half an hour every day before classes began. They were amazed to find that the children would become quiet when they meditated, whereas they were usually very active. The children liked it very much and they looked so peaceful. Many adult participants were also very interested. They asked for the bookmarks which provided details of the Falun Dafa websites and many expressed an interest in learning the practice. |
