Netherlands: Introducing Falun Gong to the People of Alphen aan de Rijn

Alphen aan de Rijn is a small town in the Netherlands with the Rhine flowing through its centre. On January 21st, 2006, Dutch Falun Gong practitioners came to the area to demonstrate Falun Gong exercises and expose the brutal persecution that the Chinese communist regime has inflicted on Falun Gong practitioners in China. After learning about the persecution, many people signed their names on a petition to support bringing the prime culprit Jiang Zemin to justice and prosecuting him for committing genocide.

A middle-aged lady took a young boy towards practitioners. They wanted to know what practitioners were doing. Practitioners provided them with explanations of what Falun Gong is all about and showed them photos of tortured Falun Gong practitioners. Practitioners highlighted the fact that similar relentless persecution is being carried out everyday in China.

Practitioners told her about Falun Gong practitioners’ legal action against Jiang Zemin for the crime of genocide. As a support to Falun Gong, the lady indicated her willingness to sign her name. She also explained to the boy and allowed him to sign. She commented, “It is a great lesson for him to support justice and helping others.”

Another lady who lived in the town asked practitioners where she could learn Falun Gong exercises. A practitioner, whose residence is the nearest to Alphen aan de Rijn, helped the lady to arrange the details.
A gentleman said he couldn’t understand at all why the Chinese communist regime should have decided to persecute such a wonderful way of cultivation. Practitioners explained to him that Falun Gong asks people to become compassionate and promotes harmony as well as tolerance. In contrast, the Chinese communist regime trumpets political struggles and rules the country based on violence and lies. It is the ever-increasing popularity and fast spread of Falun Gong that made the Chinese communist regime feel uncomfortable or threatened. As a result, the regime instigated the persecution. This gentleman had a long conversation with practitioners about Falun Gong.
