Practitioner Li Yeming Near Death After Severe Persecution in the Shengli Oilfield
On March 27, 2005, Mr. Li Yeming, a Falun Gong practitioner who worked at the Engineering Exploration Company of the Design Institute of Shengli Oilfield in Shangdong Province, was arrested and held in the Shengli Oilfield Detention Centre. Mr. Li Yeming, emaciated and with a disfigured face, is now near death.
On March 27, 2005, the police from Petroleum University took Mr. Li Yeming from his home and held him at the Shengli Oilfield Detention Centre. In detention, Mr. Li Yeming persisted in his belief and refused to bow to the authorities' illegal demands. He went on a hunger strike to protest the violence against innocent Falun Gong practitioners and to defend their basic human rights. Around April 13, Mr. Li Yeming was transferred to a brainwashing centre. To avoid responsibility in the event of Mr. Li's possible death, the Security Section of Petroleum University and the Shengli Oilfield 610 Office (1) conducted the brainwashing at the Oil-Gas Collection and Transportation Company of Shengli Oilfield. Currently, Mr. Li Yeming is being persecuted and is isolated from his family members. Police officers from the Security Section of Petroleum University arrested Mr. Li Yeming's wife, Qiu Hongmei, on March 25 and detained her in a brainwashing centre held in the Materials Supply Section of Shengli Oilfield located on the first floor of the Materials Warehouse Hostel, which was guarded by the police. Her family members were forbidden to see her.
