Sweden is a very small country in northern Europe with approximately 9 million inhabitants. Swedes enjoy the beauty of nature, the relatively high living standards, democracy and the right to think and believe whatever we want. Sweden has been preserved from war for a longer time than most European countries and the Swedish people have enjoyed a good life materially. Sweden is known in the world for information technology, producing cars and also a few tennis stars.

But not so many people are aware of the most important things. Sweden was one of the first countries where Falun Gong was established. Sweden is in fact the first country outside China where Master Li personally taught the exercises and gave lectures in a seven-day seminar. This happened in April 1995, ten years ago. A practice group was started after the course in a quiet park on a hill in Eastern Gothenburg, where practitioners have gathered every Sunday since then to do the Falun Gong exercises together. Today Falun Gong has spread to sixty countries.

I didn’t know about the Falun Gong course at the time of the first seminar, but I was lucky enough to start the practice six months later. When I was introduced to Falun Gong on an autumn day in 1995, I felt as if I finally found my way home after many years of searching. Looking back on the last ten years of cultivating my heart and mind, it brings forth a lot of memories and emotions: strength after passing tribulations, faith in the Fa, anxiety when the persecution started, pain and sorrow after reading about the first practitioner who was tortured to death, commitment to stopping the suppression in China, journeys all around the world to raise awareness, all the people we’ve met, decisions, discussions – all the things practitioners did to help the world understand us and bring an end to the persecution. How would we have been able to manage all this without guidance? We found the power and the strength in the Fa, in Truthfulness, Compassion Forbearance, and in Master’s great mercy.
