The painting depicts the imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners in China whose noble belief in “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” fills their hearts with brightness and mercy. With their indestructible faith, they are not intimidated by evil.

A paintbrush made of weasel’s hair was used to sketch the outline. A second brush made of goat’s hair was then moistened with ink to repeatedly (about ten times) apply ink to the drawing on a piece of silk. Then a mixture of Chinese pigments, gelatin and alumina solution was applied layer by layer to the drawing. Finally the piece of transparent silk was mounted on a piece of rice paper. The artist has successfully blended traditional Chinese fine brushwork and materials with western realism and rich colours, putting a great value on impressionism.
