On the 16th of October 2004, visitors and residents of Gothenburg City enjoyed the annual Cultural Night in which dance, music, art, theatre and other forms of cultural activities are displayed. Falun Gong practitioners are a regular part of this event and in the programme this year they introduced the five sets of Falun Gong exercises that have benefited 100 million people in more than 60 countries around the world. They also displayed traditional Chinese culture by performing a gracious lotus dance and other traditional Chinese dances. In between performances, a slide show informed people about the systematic campaign of persecution that has been taking place over the last five years in China.

Falun Gong is not only a part of Chinese culture. Judging by its popularity outside of China, it is already a part of the cultures of the world. How could former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin initiate a brutal persecution of people who cherish a peaceful practice with roots in Chinese culture, which emphasises being a good person?
