Mr. Pan Qichu was a 45-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Yichun City, Jiangxi Province. He was a very strong man in good health. Around May 20, 2003, police of Yichun City Police Department arrested him. He was put into a detention centre. On June 2, 2003, he was persecuted to death. The details of his death are being investigated.

Section chief Tang Chunping of the Political and Security Division of Yuanzhou Branch of Yichun City Police Department has been illegally arresting and torturing practitioners since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999. He often led others in ransacking practitioners' homes.
