Practitioner Dies in Police Custody; black and blue marks found on her body Ms Zheng Lanfeng, a 39 year old Dafa practitioner, lived in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In mid-February of 2003, police officials from the Hongshan District Police Department arrested her for distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying flyers. She was illegally detained in Hongshan District Detention Centre. Within less than three weeks, Zheng Lanfeng died from torture. Zheng Lanfeng persisted in her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance. In late 2000, she was kidnapped and illegally sent to the Tumuji Forced Labour Camp for one year and suffered unimaginable torments. On February 11, 2003, officials from the Hongshan District Police Department arrested, detained and tortured her at Hongshan District Detention Centre. Two weeks later, having been tortured to the limits of her endurance, on February 28, Zheng Lanfeng died whilst in police custody. The police didn't notify her family of her death until March 5, 2003, when her body was sent to Chifeng City's No. 3 Hospital. When dressing her body, her family found many horrific black and blue marks on her back. Several police officers stood by and watched during the dressing process. They didn't allow Zheng Lanfeng's colleagues and other practitioners to see the body. During her funeral, two police cars followed all the way. Right now, the police detained five Dafa practitioners including Zhou Caixia, an official of Chifeng City General Labour Union, at the Chifeng City No. 3 Hospital. Four of them have been on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Their lives are in grave danger. We hope kind-hearted people can lend a hand of support to end this heartache and misery for innocent people.
