The artist is a Falun Dafa practitioner. The influence of Falun Gong can naturally be found in the art of those who practise it; in the subject, style, approach and unederlying values. In this case, the subject of the painting, an "insane" monk called Jigong, is mentioned in the main text of Falun Dafa, Zhuan Falun.

"You laugh at me for my insaneness.
I laugh at you for your silliness.
The holy insane is not insane.
The great silly is not silly"

During the Southern Song Dynasty of China there were two famous Buddhist monks. One was known as the “Crazy Monk” Ji Gong, the other, the “Mad Monk” Feng Bo. It is said that these two crazy monks became Arhats. [The lowest level of enlightenment] Both of them are worshipped and revered by many.
