Proclamation

WHEREAS, Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is based on the universal principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance (Zhen-Shan-Ren), and this self-cultivation practice is publicly introduced to the world by its Founder Mr. Li Hongzhi;

WHEREAS, Falun Gong has benefited over 100 million people and the society in more than 60 countries; its principles and five sets of exercises not only have improved human’s health physically and mentally, but also elevated social and moral standards and transcended racial and religious boundaries [Falun Gong is not a religion, for more information about the nature of Falun Gong, please click here];

WHEREAS, since July 1999, Falun Gong has been under brutal persecution in China, but its practitioners have remained steadfast with peaceful attitudes and they are convinced that the truth will eventually be revealed in the near future;

WHEREAS, Falun Dafa has persistently provided free teaching classes of its exercises to the people in Lerums for the past four years;

NOW, THEREFORE, I hereby proclaim January 30, 2003 as Falun Gong Day in the City of Lerums, honouring Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.
