Letter from Swedish Practitioner to Hong Kong's Leader Dear Mr Tung Chee-hwa I am a citizen of Sweden. In my country I have always had the freedom of expression, thought and belief. I think that these are basic human rights and I believe you agree. The proposed law, Article 23, will make Hong Kong citizens lose their civil liberties and human rights. Politicians from democratic countries, media organisations and human rights groups all over the world all have the same view. It would be a very, very bad development for Hong Kong, democracy and the world if you let the Chinese dictator, Jiang Zemin, influence you and export his persecution of peaceful people, such as Falun Gong practitioners, members of the Catholic Church and human rights activists, to Hong Kong. Please stand up for the dignity of Hong Kong. Please stop Article 23! Sincerely Published: Friday 20th December 2002 http://www.clearharmony.net/articles/200212/8935.html |
