Reply to the Guadeloupe Falun Dafa Association: France Hopes for China to Respect Fundamental Freedoms

Prime Minister
Technical Councillor

Paris, November 8, 2002

Mr. President,

The Prime Minister has received your letter concerning the repression of Falun Gong practitioners in China, and he has asked me to reply to you.

France and her European partners have attentively followed this campaign [against Falun Gong] since 1999. They are concerned about the numerous allegations of tortures surrounding this.

France will continue to remind the Chinese authorities of our country’s attention to the need for respect of fundamental freedoms, and of our wish to see these being applied. The Prime Minister once again expressed our concerns on the issue of human rights to his Chinese counterpart, Mr. Zhu Rongji, during his visit to France on the 26-28 September.

I ask that you, Mr. President, accept the expression of my distinguished respect.

Olivier Lacroix

President of the Guadeloupe Falun Dafa Association
