Details on Irish Practitioner's Two Sisters Detained in Jinan Labour Camp

Ms. Dai Dongxue has two sisters being held in a labour camp. They are Ms. Dai Qiuxia (38) and Ms. Dai Xialing (40).

Both sisters lost their jobs soon after the persecution started in July 1999. And both of them have been detained many times for persisting to practise Falun Gong. Qiuxia has been sentenced to 3-years in Jinan Labour Camp, since December 2000. Prior to that, she was expelled from her company. Her husband divorced her due to huge pressure from the government and police, as well as from neighbours, his relatives, friends and colleagues. The massive propaganda of the Chinese authorities has misled the Chinese people, making them believe that Falun Gong is evil, bad and harmful. People who practise Falun Gong not only are suppressed by the Jiang’s government, but also pressurised by families, relatives, neighbours, colleagues, even strangers.

Before she was sent to Jinan Labour Camp, Qiuxia had no job, no income and no social welfare. Still she had to try to care for her 9-year-old school daughter for nearly half a year before she was sent to the Jinan Labour Camp.

Xialing has been detained several times throughout the last two years plus, as well as being expelled from her company. She was brutally force fed when she was detained before the Chinese New Year 2000 while on a hunger strike to protest her illegal detention.

She escaped by jumping out from a 3rd floor building when the police attempted to arrest her in December 2000. She had wandered around for about 8 months before being arrested again and was later sent to the same labour camp as Dai Qiuxia. She has a 14-year old daughter who is attending school.

Ms Dai’s mother died on 15 October after seeing her children's ordeals. Ms Dai and her two imprisoned sisters were denied their right to attend their mother’s funeral.
