More than 300 Falun Dafa practitioners have been illegally arrested, detained or imprisoned; at least 28 of them have been sentenced to forced labour camp stays.
Bai Yuzhi is a female practitioner who is 38 years old. She was an accountant and an official in China's Construction Bank. Because she insisted on cultivating Falun Dafa, Ms. Bai was tortured so badly that wounds covered her whole body. The police pulled her hair so severely that she became bald. Her clothes were torn apart. She suffered a lot of insults and tortures. Now she has been sent to a forced labour camp. Her husband was also sent to a forced labour camp in Baoding City. Her younger sisters, Bai Yumei, a worker in a Flag Factory, and Bai Yuyi, an employee of the Railway Station, and also Bai Yuhong, a worker in a Chemical Plant, were all brutally persecuted and sent to forced labour camps.

Jingjing City's China Bank associate president, Wei Xiang, a male practitioner, is 32 years old. He was beaten up and indefinitely detained. Currently he is in the Chengde Detention Centre. His wife was a worker in No.3502 Factory and also has been sent to a forced labour camp. Their 9-year-old daughter was left home alone without anyone to care for her.

In May 2001, agents from the "610 Office" (An agency specifically created to persecute Falun gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems) suddenly intruded, searched and arrested Falun Dafa practitioners in the night. They searched for Falun Dafa books and they took away more than 30 practitioners. These practitioners were illegally and separately detained in Xiantai Mountain's and Biaochun's Party School. The authorities hired hatchet men to beat practitioners with wooden sticks and electric batons for forced brainwashing. To this day, there are still 8 practitioners separately detained in Biaochun.

Female practitioner Luan Hua is 25 years old and was a model teacher. Her legs became disabled from the torture of continuous beatings. She once lost consciousness successively three times. Miss Luan was expelled from her job and sent back to her hometown, Wangzhuang Township, Jianshan Village, Jingjing County.
Dafa practitioners were fined and the authorities extorted money from them. More than a dozen practitioner's families were broken up. The policy of the vicious people is "Fine practitioners ten thousand Yuan if Dafa books are found."
