Nordic Meeting on the Occasion of the Nobel Peace Prize Nomination


From 6th to 13th October, Falun Gong practitioners from Norway and Sweden gathered in Oslo to await the proclamation of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize winner. Nominated for the second year in a row was Mr Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong. He was among the ones most likely to receive the award. His contribution to humankind’s progress towards global peace has attracted attention world-wide.

He has on many occasions been rewarded with nominations and proclamations due to his work in bringing Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance to humankind. The Nobel Peace Prize is the most recognized award throughout the world for unselfish work relating to peace and liberty. To be nominated is a great recognition of one’s work for humankind’s well-being.

During the week before the proclamation, Falun Gong practitioners performed different activities to inform people about Falun Gong. Many inhabitants in Oslo received pamphlets telling them about Falun Gong and the persecution. Falun Gong was also the subject of two different nationwide radio programmes. In one of them, a Chinese Falun Gong practitioner spoke about the persecution and torture he suffered in China. Also the newspapers wrote about Falun Gong and the situation in China.
