On 14th October 2001, a rally to support Falun Gong practitioners in China was held in London

The following statement was read out at the press conference by Lord Moyne who is an eminent public figure in the UK:

What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and lost his own soul?

Until July 1999 it looked as if Falun Gong might provide a soul for the materialist communists in China with Truth, Compassion and Forbearance. Falun Gong was encouraged. Li Hong Zhi received an award. Then it became too big.

The (Chinese) Government thought it easy to suppress believers in Truth, Compassion and Forbearance. Ideas for wimps! But (Falun Gong) practitioners have faced torture without flinching. Like the Romans with the early Christians, the Communists have experienced the power of the powerless. Baffled they return to methods of Middle Ages.

The world is watching. News of the atrocities has got out… Demonstrations here, in Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, all over Europe, all over the world. (Falun Gong practitioners) show China can never be accepted as a civilized country if it does not stop the torture.

The Falun Gong is not going away. It could still perhaps, provide the spiritual dimension you lack. But at least stop the torture. It is nauseating the whole world.
